Some Observations & Quotations for the Procrastinator in You

74

By Nancy B.

And we all have that procrastinator at one time or another....

I've been putting off a project for a couple of weeks. I messed up on it twice and I set it aside and walked away from it. My story was that I needed to let it percolate a bit before tackling it again. Now, after two weeks, I realize I'm just procrastinating.

I still get irritated with myself that I didn't accomplish what I set out to do perfectly the first time. When I mess up a project more than once, then I get really irritated. And my punishment to myself is that I procrastinate, the longer I procrastinate the more rushed I will be to finish the project and the 'better' excuse I will have for the slipshod result. The time management decisions I make today will form my schedule in the coming days. So I've started meditating on these quotations and thought to share them with you in case you needed a bit of a project push also.

Here's to a quick and successful finish for my project and for yours.

~~ Florence Nightingale

"When we can begin to take our failures seriously, it means we are ceasing to be afraid of them. It is of immense importance to learn to laugh at ourselves."

"Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I shall have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I may not have it at the beginning."

- Mahatma Gandhi

"'Begin at the beginning.' the King said, gravely, 'and go till you come to the end; then stop.'"

You certainly found some interesting quotations to help put things into perspective for us procrastinators. Now I must ask - did you create this hub to put off working on your other project? That's something that I would do...

Don't feel bad about it - only another procrastinator would know. It is absolutely amazing how productive I can be on anything and everything but what I am "supposed" to be doing. I'm just glad that I'm not the only one. :)

Cybersister, I don't feel bad about it. I think it's funny that we follow the same routines. Procrastinators Unite! We'll get right on that organization tomorrow.

I know right where you're at, Phoebe.

I did start working on my project and it's about 80% done now. I hope to have it completed before I end my day.
